Posted in Home with tags brown county, camping, fukudome on April 26, 2009 by Joe SandersHad most of the weekend off with the exception of friday night. It has flown by of course, but it was a good weekend. Yesterday after doing some yard work, we went over to Brown County to hang out with Beans and the twins while they were camping in their new camper. It was a good time, sitting around the fire and talking. I definitely enjoy being out around a fire and relaxing, but i’m still not a huge fan of camping overnight. I just hate the waking up part after, what is always a rough night of sleep.
Today i slept in way too long, but it was much needed. I finally put a fan in my room for the sole purpose of drowning out as much noise as possible, and it really seemed to help. I slept pretty well. I also went to wal-mart today with the sole purpose of buying hair clippers so i could finally cut my hair. I ended up leaving $110 dollars later with a new ipod and some curtains for the window. I think they were all good buys, so it’s cool. My room is starting too look more like a room and not an orange box with a bed in it. I finally hung some of my black and white photographs on the wall, and it really makes the room a lot better. I think i’d like to buy a rug to put in there as well, to make it a little cozier. The wood floors are nice, but not the most comfortable.
I did cut my hair tonight, more of a summer cut. It might of been the most hair i’ve ever cut off my head. It’s definitely not the best hair cut in the world, but it will get the job done for now.
With as much crap as Fukudome got in the off-season, the cubs might not of won more than 1 or 2 games this year without him. The rest of the team has been pretty lackluster from what i can tell.
Happier
Posted in Home on April 20, 2009 by Joe SandersIt’s been brought to my attention that my blog has become somewhat depressing, and that Chicago Nick thinks I need to be put on suicide watch because of it. So not to continue that trend, i’d better start writing about happier thoughts.
Last night was a good start. Ferrell, or F-dog as he likes to be called, drove me over to Dayton, OH to see Guster perform. It was my first time seeing them life, and they were fantastic. Definitely one of the better concerts i’ve ever been too.
Here is a link to some of the show’s highlights posted by a fan who must of been sitting about 2 rows behind us.
I’m trying to talk my friends into going to see NIN (nine inch nails) this summer. I doubt i end up going, but i’d like to. I’d also like to see Coldplay this summer, but I don’t have a ticket yet. I’m sure i can get one if i really want to go.
I’ve gotten about 7 total hours of sleep in the past 48 hours.
I bought new running shoes, a year after i was due to get some. It’s so great to have cushion again when your running. I’m sure my knees appreciate it more than I do. They will be getting a lot of use this summer.
I’d like to invest in a nice digital camera. I still only have a point and shoot. I need something that actually zooms so i can shoot more than 10 ft away from something. Although i think it forces you to be creative when having limited capabilities with the smaller camera.

Windmills of my Mind
Posted in Home on April 16, 2009 by Joe SandersThe new show “Parks and Recreation” is pretty funny. It’s supposed to take place in small town Indiana, so obviously being from Indiana, I notice little things that are off. For instance, there are no palm trees in indiana. And in the opening of the show, it shows a Buffalo in a wheat field. I’m guessing the creators of the show in California probably think there are Buffalo roaming the fields of California?! Looking forward to finding more things that aren’t true to Indiana, and seeing how much they make fun of Indiana!
Have you seen the Nutri-Grain commercial that shows a person’s daily eating habits over the course of a few days? The camera view is as if your the one eating all the unhealthy food. And then at the end it shows you eating a nutri-grain bar and changing to a healthier lifestyle. While that was a horrible description of how that commercial is, i thought it was one of the more effective commercials for advertising a product. Basically, if your an unhealthy eater like the person in the commercial, the commercial makes your associate your unhealthy eating habits. At least it did for me! So then, when they eat the nutri-grain bar, it comes off as your a healthier person. Anyway, i like critiquing commercials because most of them make no sense and don’t really sell the product. I thought this one did.
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood today. Unfortunately i spent most of it driving around Indiana in a car. I did manage to work out and do some yard work.
Looking forward to watching “The Wrestler” tonight. Ah, Marisa Tomei.
My big toe hurts, like i have an in-grown toenail or something. It definitely didn’t feel good tonight when i was jogging. What also didn’t feel good was when i got stung by a bee on my ankle when i was running. He must of needed a way to hang onto me by putting his stinger into my skin.
My parents took me up to the beautiful city of Fowler, Indiana yesterday to show me the windmills. I was pretty surprised at what i saw. It was almost as if i was on a different planet, because they are so huge and not normal.

stress
Posted in Home with tags easter on April 13, 2009 by Joe SandersThe way i have tried to live my life over the past few years has been to go with my gut and do what feels right. I think it’s a waste of time to put yourself in situations that make you unhappy, because you only get one life to live. So I tend to have inner battles all the time with myself as to what i should do when it comes to something that will make me happy versus what might be a smarter decision long term. I wish i leaned heavily to one side or the other so i wouldn’t always question myself. It would make life much less stressful, and i would probably end up with more hair before it’s all said and done. The past few months have really been a mental grind, and i certainly need to make a few tough decisions before i drive myself insane.
Moving home was supposed to allow for more time to see the family. But because of my job, i can’t even get together with the family for Easter. That’s worse than living across country and not being able to come home!
Finally watched a few innings of the cubs last night. That was nice.
I advised my brother on how to seed the backyard, but wasn’t able to help out. I wish i could have, had been looking forward to doing so for a while. But hopefully my pointers will help him have grass pretty soon. The weather is pretty perfect right now.
Looking forward to a couple of days off pretty soon. Hoping to be productive.
Target got me again
Posted in Home with tags radiohead, Roco La Duca, target on April 9, 2009 by Joe SandersTotally stoked to have one of my favorite cd’s back. Unfortunately i had to go out and buy it for the 2nd time this year because it was inside my car when it was stolen, but it’s worth it. I am speaking of “In Rainbows” from Radiohead. It’s such a good album, very origional. You can listen to the whole album below.
I also bought another cd tonight at target by somebody i had never heard, but thought might be worth the risk. The dudes name is Roco La Duca i think, not even totally sure yet if that is a person or a band or what. That’s how little I know. But so far from what i’ve heard, it’s pretty good.
I also bought 2 shirts at target. Little by little i’m updating my wardrobe that needs some major help. I’m sick of staring at the same clothes in my closet. All in all i spent way too much money at target, when i went in the store not really thinking i would buy anything. I just felt like getting out of the house and doing something.
Yes, my life is that exciting. I venture to places such as Target as my nightly excitement. I then came home and proceeded to make Velveeta shells and cheese for myself. I looked at the box for the first time ever, and realized i probably ought to cut back on my mac and cheese intake. Not so healthy.
I was totally thrilled to find my sweet tea at kroger again! Not sure where it had gone, but it was never there after the first time i bought it a few months ago. But yesterday when i went to the store, it was miraculously there. Haven’t found any other sweet tea that is near as good. Forget the brand of it, but it’s mighty fine stuff.
Mowed the yard at my brothers house for the first time today. Seeing as the dogs have torn up most of it, it took me about 5 minutes to do both front and back. We have some serious grass growing to do now that the dog pen is finished.
I wonder what is in store for me in the next year. I feel like i’m still in a transition period before moving onto the next big step. Maybe i shouldn’t feel that way, because it’s not allowing me to live in the now. But i really don’t feel like i’m living in the now right now, but instead living for the future. I think that’s a pretty unhealthy way to go through life. Better work on that.
I’m in negotiations with my first possible podcast guest. He’s pretty pumped about it, just need to work out some details.
Video
Posted in Home on April 4, 2009 by Joe SandersI was told that I was in a tourism video of Columbus. So if you want to see me live and in person, check out this website and click on the ‘video’ tab. I show up for about 2 seconds towards the end, eating with my brother and friends. It’s also a good video if you are curious to know more about Columbus.
Sleepy Saturday
Posted in Home with tags Saturday Night Live, Seth Rogan on April 4, 2009 by Joe SandersIt was a super nice day outside today. Brother and I finished the new dog pen in the back yard. It’s really just a patio with a fancy rod iron fence around it. Now we will be able to grow some grass in the backyard, as well as feel more comfortable walking around in it without stepping on a land mine.
I’m trying to think of anything interesting that might of happened to me this past week, but i am drawing blanks. I suppose being super tired might be causing that, or just a pretty lackluster week.
Watching Saturday Night Live by myself tonight. Yes, I lead an exciting life. Hosting tonight is Seth Rogan. He’s lost a lot of weight. I’m thinking he looked more normal when he was heavier. Maybe it’s just because i’m used to him heavier…i dunno. Why am i even debating this? Maybe part of his funniness was being a little overweight. Now he’s lost the fat guy charm. Just awkward now.
So far SNL is kinda funny tonight…mainly due to Andy Samberg.
This has to be the first time in a long time i haven’t been following the cubs closely going into the beginning of the season. Maybe it’s because…..well, i dunno why. Hopefully they are a fun team to watch this year. I believe i have tickets to a cubs game in May in Chicago. Looking forward to watching some baseball in Cincy as well.
I went to this local bar last night. It’s a well known establishment that has been around for a long time….and one of the 2 choices in bars in downtown columbus. It’s an ok place, that brews their own beer and has decent food. I can’t help but think that if they just added 3 or 4 flat screen tv’s in there, that it would do so much better. It could easily be turned into a great sports bar, with just a few tv’s. If only I was the owner. They already win my business over the only other local downtown bar, because you can’t smoke in there. But it would get a lot more of my business if i could watch a game there. Just saying.
Listening to this band named “phoenix” on SNL. First time listener. They are pretty good, and the lead singer has a pretty good voice. He needs to work on his pants though. They look like girls low cut jeans. Seems to be the theme of this bands jeans. Maybe thats the style in Europe where they are from?
I need to read a book soon.
I’m trying to talk my brother into doing a podcast with me. Not sure what we would talk about, but i think it could be pretty entertaining. We’ll see what happens.
