Butler

Went to the Butler game today with my buddy Migrant. I’ve been to Hinkle Fieldhouse many times and even played there a few times, but it was my first time seeing Butler play. It was a very good game, decided by 2 points at the last second. They are a fun team to watch and have some really good young players. It’s a pretty good place to see a game because it’s not very big. But there are some awkward seats because of weird angles, and we ended up in those. It still wasn’t bad though, and we were pretty close to the action. I need to remember to bring my camera with me at all times. I could of taken some good pics there today. Oh well.

I’m desperately trying not to get sick. I can feel it coming on, and everybody at work is sick. I need to remember to take some medicine before i sleep tonight.

Nice to see Purdue get a win today even though i didn’t actually get to see it.

I don’t understand who comes up with some of these commercials.  People are making a lot of money to come up with stupid commercials and it annoys me. Either they try to be too clever or they really just don’t make any sense and do nothing to get people to remember the product. For instance, there is a commercial with a kid telling his parents he got a college scholarship and they all get really excited, and then at the end they show the product being a hair product for men. How does a company pay a lot of money for that ad space when the commercial does nothing for the product? These sort of things kill me.

Anyway….it’s 1:30am and time for sleep.

My friend Naomi invited me out to take some pictures of her horse so that she could try and sell it. I was excited for the opportunity, although I knew it would be difficult because I don’t have a good camera for this sort of thing, particularly action shots. I did my best. It was a beautiful day outside today, but super cold. My hands about fell off. I also was able to get some shots with my film camera for class even though i probably had the wrong film in. Here are some of the pics, most of them i’ve messed with the coloring to change things up.

I’m excited to have my parents in town tonight visiting my brother and I. I believe we are going to head to Ike’s bistro and have dinner. So that should be a good time. I think my brother must be pretty excited too because he cleaned the entire house and even bought a new shower curtain.

Our cat is a walking noise machine. He is constantly making some sort of meowing tone, some squeakier than others. I think he’s a fairly happy cat though, which is why he is so noisy. He might kill my dad tonight though because of my dad’s allergies.

I have nothing to write about. My life has just been work and school lately. My weekly excitement comes from watching tv shows. That means i need to make a change and do something else. I don’t want watching Michael Scott being my only highlight of the week.

I just saw the funniest thing i’ve seen in a while. Bobcat climbed into a plastic shopping back that was sitting on my dresser as he so often likes to do. But as he was playing in it, he rolled off the edge while still fully in the bag and fell down to the floor and into my clothes basket. He didn’t move for a few seconds, probably collecting his thoughts and then slowly climbed out. What a retarded cat

Excited to have the day off tomorrow. Should give me time to get my taxes done. Hoping to get some money back this year.

Not surprised to learn that A-rod was on steroids. I am surprised that he admitted to it so quickly. He obviously has learned from all that Bonds and Clemens have gone through, that he might as well cut his losses. It’s amazing how much better off he already is than those two guys, mainly because we are a forgiving society.  This whole situation with the steroids deal is such a great example of how huge of a role the media has in our society. You have 2 pretty major ball players in Jason Giambi and Andy Pettite who owned up to doing steroids after much speculation and accusations, and immediately the story died down and their careers went on as it almost never happened. On the opposite side you have 2 other major ballplayers in Bonds and Clemens who continue to deny steroid accusations even though they are already guilty in the court of public opinion and basically in the court room.  No matter what happens from here on out, their baseball legacies and public persona have forever been ruined because they just wouldn’t own up to a mistake.  4 players committing the same mistake, but vastly different results because of how they dealt with telling the truth.

But back to A-rod. Does he ever own up to it had the report not come out? He will be praised for owning up to it instead of denying it. The entire interview he talks about how proud he was of owning up to it, but would he ever of owned up to it had he known he could get away with it? I think not. Same goes with Pettite and Giambi and any other player who owns up to it after being accused. Will there ever be a player come out before his name is even mentioned who just says he is guilty and he needs to get it off his chest? I would respect that a hell of a lot more than any of these other guys who are banking on getting away with it. It’s not like most of us normal, everyday people who given the option to make many more millions of dollars just by using steroids would not of tried it out…..especially if all of your peers were doing it. I’d like to say i wouldn’t, but when put in that position, we are all human. That’s why i think we forgive any athlete in this situation so easily who owns up to it, because deep down we know we might of done the same thing.

Anyway, had a good weekend of not having to work. Spent the weekend at my parents and ate way too much as always. I think i ate about 10 lbs of my mom’s homemade lasagna in 1 setting. I also got to see my buddies taf and cline over in Kokomo, which is always good. I haven’t seen my friends enough since i’ve moved back to indiana.

Today i developed a few more black and white photos in the dark room. Only a few of them turned out well enough to want to hang on the wall, but i’m still learning. I could probably spent an entire day in the dark room and enjoy the challenge of developing a good photo. It’s fun.

Finally had a day off today. I haven’t been sleeping well of late and last night i caught up on sleep for sure. I woke up right about noon, without really knowing i had slept that long. It was great because normally i can’t sleep that heavy past 9am anymore.

I had a pretty exciting day by my standards. I went to Target, which is always fun, and bought the new Fray cd. I’ve already listened to it about 6 times, and am really liking it. Their(the fray) first cd will be tough to beat because I listened to it about 20 times on my drive out to Cali 3 years ago, which was something i’ll never forget. My sister had gotten it for me just a day or two before i left for my cross country move to cali, and i had never heard of the Fray. But she lived in Colorado, which is where the band is from, and said they were really good. So turns out she was right, and i probably listened to that cd 200 times the first 3 months after my move. Unfortunatly i let somebody borrow it and never got it back. So this one will have to be pretty spectacular to surpass that one.

But the most exciting thing i did today, and maybe top 20 things in my lifetime, was developing a picture. One of the classes i am taking is a black and white film photography class. So i’ve been using my brothers film camera to take pictures. Today i went into the dark room and developed my first roll of film. I was just hoping that 1 picture would turn out. The process took me about 2 hours and i ruined all but about 1o pictures on the film itself during the process. But i got a few to turn out, and they actually turned out looking pretty good as 8×10’s. I’m definitely framing them.  I now have a new ability i never had before, and it’s kinda cool. It’s made my desire to be a good photographer much better now that I have an understanding of how to develop a real picture.paint cans
