my hat

my hat

Last weekend i wore my hat as i climbed camelback. So seeing as camelback is a pretty good workout, my hat became pretty soaked with sweat. So when i got home, i felt i should probably wash it by hand so it wouldn’t look too disgusting when i wear it in public next. Not that it ever really looks presentable, as it is pretty torn and tattered. But probably best not to show the sweat stains.

As i was washing my hat, i realized that it is really falling apart. Any major stretch of it will probably rip it apart. I became very sad as i have had this hat for over 7 years now and it has become my buddy. It has kept me company for longer than i can remember and has been my go to guy when i don’t want to have to make my hair look presentable…..which is basically all the time except when i am working.  My hat has been with me from Indiana to California, to Florida, to Arizona, and even to Mexico and Canada. It’s been in the gulf of mexico, the sea of cortez, the Pacific Ocean, and even the Atlantic Ocean. I’ve worn it playing golf, tennis, basketball, baseball, volleyball, ping pong, billiards and even darts.

Of all the hats i have had, this one has been my favorite. It’s been worn forward and backwards, depending on the situation and my mood. It was once navy and now it’s grown grey as it has matured with age. I just hope i can squeeze a few more years out of my hat. I’m already breaking in my next hat in preparation for this hat’s final days. I just hope the new hat will live up to this one. I’m sure that is news my mom will not be happy to hear!
